Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I can hardly believe it is already, not only this time of year again, but also so close to Christmas! I am absolutely loving every moment of the most wonderful time of year and cherishing every second. I hope you all are doing well and are spending time with the ones you love most. I truly hope you all enjoy this blog post, solely dedicated to this beautiful holiday season and Marilyn's happy Christmas memories (also at the end I've added a last minute gift list for any Marilyn fans in your life-or for yourself!). "I'll always love Christmas in my heart." Christmas 1946In December of 1946, Marilyn attended a Christmas event, promoted by Kaiser Darrin Frazer Cars, with Santa Claus on behalf of Blue Book Modelling Agency. Christmas 1951Marilyn was voted "The Present All GI's Would Like to Find in Their Christmas Stocking." Of course, therefore, Marilyn posed as a stocking, giving the GI's what they wanted. Christmas 1952 With Joe DiMaggioIn early 1952, Joe and Marilyn had just began seeing each other. Later that year around Christmas time, Marilyn came home to her apartment after a Christmas party at the studio. She was expecting to come home to an empty apartment, however, when she opened the door, there was Joe and with him a miniature Christmas tree that read, "Merry Christmas Marilyn," hand painted by Joe himself. Marilyn would later tell a friend, "It's the first time in my life anyone gave me a Christmas tree. I was so happy I cried." Christmas 1954 With the Greene'sIn 1954, Marilyn was living with the Greene family in their cozy Connecticut home. During this time, Marilyn was finally able to step away from the public eye and relax.
"The following week, we all went to New York, her hair and makeup was done and now it came time to slip into the famous ballerina dress. Marilyn wasn't fat; but she wasn't what I would describe as trim. She was on a perpetual diet, drinking one glass of wine at dinner. There was no bloat, just that the damn dress was a size too small. My mistake!" "She came out of the dressing room disappointed. She so had been looking forward to this. When told of the problem, Milton said, 'It doesn't matter. Get into whatever you can and leave the rest opened.' Which is exactly what they did. I love her red toenails in the full-frame pictures and in the most well-known image from that sitting, there again is the line, from the red toenails, to the knees, ending with the index finger pointing to the red lips and soft smile. That is the true story of the famous ballerina sitting."
